Three senior executives, including Pratyusha Agarwal (Chief Business Officer), Mukut Deepak (Business Head for Class 4 to 10), and Himanshu Bajaj (Business Head of Byju’s Tuition Centers), have resigned from edtech startup Byju’s. These departures coincide with the company’s efforts to restructure its operations due to financial and legal challenges. Byju’s has faced issues such as auditors quitting, anti-money laundering investigations, and director resignations.

The company is undergoing a reorganization, consolidating its verticals into two main categories: K-10 and Exam Prep. Ramesh Karra now leads the K-10 vertical, while Jitesh Shah manages the exam prep business. Mukut Deepak, Pratyusha Agarwal, and Himanshu Bajaj are leaving as part of this restructuring.

Pratyusha Agarwal, who joined Byju’s in February 2022 from Zee Entertainment Enterprises, had been the Chief Consumer and Data Officer at Zee. She had held several senior roles over five years there. Mukut Deepak had been with Byju’s for almost two years as Business Head for Class 4 to 10, previously serving as Tata Play’s Chief Business Officer. Himanshu Bajaj, who had been at management consulting firm Kearney for about 16 years, became part of Byju’s in November 2021, leading the Byju’s Tuition Centers vertical.

Thomas Cherian, the former Senior Vice President for international business at Byju’s, also left the company recently to become CEO of Impending Inc.
