In a recent update, India has currently reported around 4,091 active COVID-19 cases and unfortunately 5 deaths case due to COVID-19 on latest – Friday which was as updated by the Union Health Ministry of India. The state-wise breakdown of the cases further reveals how Kerala is at the forefront with 2.5k cases, and it will as followed by Karnataka with 568, and then Maharashtra with 369. This resurgence comes after the decline in daily cases until December 5th which was attributed to the new variant and chilly weather conditions around the country.
4,091 COVID-19 cases recorded in India
The spotlight is on the emergence of the JN.1 sub-variant which is prompting vigilant monitoring in India’s capital – Delhi. Responding to the surge in the county, Gurugram District Magistrate – Nishant Kumar Yadav has firmly directed hospitals and medical staff to establish isolation wards and dedicated sections within ICUs.
In a somber turn of events, popular Tamil Nadu actor Vijayakant succumbed to Covid-19. In response to this, the state of Karnataka has implemented a mandatory seven-day home isolation for positive patients and Maharashtra has reinstated its Covid-19 special task force to address concerns related to the JN.1 variant.
As of now, India has witnessed over 4.5 crore infections and over 5.3 lakh deaths in the four years since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020. Impressively, the recovery rate stands at 98.81%, with over 4.4 crore individuals having successfully recuperated. The nation has administered a remarkable 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccines.
