In the PRP reference document, Wipro warns applicants that failure to achieve 60% after the final supplemental attempt may result in separation action being taken with immediate effect through HR. According to the article, even if they are assigned a project before finishing their work, special consent will be required before beginning the project.
The IT workers’ union, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), criticised the action and described it as immoral and unjust.
Wipro’s unpaid Velocity training began in March 2022 and the HR department assured employees that they would not be required to undergo additional training. However, after joining the company on March 30th the company changed its stance and said employees must undergo training again. NITES president Harpreet Singh Saluja claims this.
Even though the initial promise was that those who passed the Velocity test would receive Rs 6.5 lakh per year, some of these new hires had accepted the company’s offer of Rs 3.5 lakh per year in compensation. The company had recently advised interested individuals to accept the Rs 3.5 lakh offer.
