GeM Launches Vigilance Awareness Week Campaign to Promote Transparency in Public Procurement

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has rolled out a special campaign during Vigilance Awareness Week, reaffirming its mission to build a procurement ecosystem rooted in transparency, integrity, and fairness. The campaign—“GeM Ki Sunien, Satark Rahein, Zimmedar Banein”—is designed to promote vigilance, responsibility, and ethical conduct among buyers and sellers participating in India’s largest public procurement platform.
The initiative combines awareness drives and educational outreach, urging buyers to follow best practices, adhere to compliance rules, and utilize GeM’s safeguards such as red-flag alerts, structured bid conditions, and audit trails. On the seller side, the campaign opens doors for startups, women entrepreneurs, artisans, SHGs, MSEs, and last-mile businesses to access fair and transparent markets.
As part of the drive, GeM is conducting vernacular press outreach, beginning with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, to connect with grassroots entrepreneurs and make procurement opportunities more inclusive.
“GeM is more than just a platform—it is a national commitment to fairness, inclusion, and trust in public procurement,” said Shri Mihir Kumar, CEO of GeM. “Vigilance Awareness Week reminds us that transparency and responsibility are shared values across the ecosystem.”
GeM has already launched dedicated #VocalForLocal outlets and curated market pages for startups, FPOs, SHGs, weavers, and artisans. Its pro-MSE policies—such as 97% of orders being exempt from transaction fees and waiving caution money for new sellers—make the platform simpler, more affordable, and accessible.
The impact of these reforms is evident:
- In Madhya Pradesh, GeM sellers received orders worth ₹38,027 crore, of which MSEs contributed ₹26,937 crore, startups ₹1,584 crore, women-led businesses ₹3,197 crore, and SC/ST entrepreneurs ₹1,306 crore.
- In Chhattisgarh, orders worth ₹87,873 crore were secured, with MSEs contributing ₹48,575 crore, startups ₹420 crore, women entrepreneurs ₹1,242 crore, and SC/ST sellers ₹199 crore.
These achievements demonstrate GeM’s growing role as India’s most trusted procurement ecosystem, ensuring that growth is not only efficient but also ethical, inclusive, and sustainable.
