New Delhi: InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, the operator of IndiGo, said on Tuesday that shareholders have approved the appointment of former G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant as Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director through a postal ballot process. The resolution was cleared as an ordinary resolution, the company disclosed to stock exchanges.

The voting process was conducted electronically between November 6 and the closure of the ballot window, in compliance with SEBI’s Listing Regulations and the Companies Act provisions governing e-voting. The scrutiniser’s report and detailed voting results have been uploaded on the company’s website as well as NSDL’s e-voting platform.
The postal ballot notice sought shareholder nod specifically for Kant—who has also served as CEO of NITI Aayog and is regarded as one of India’s most experienced policy strategists—to join the IndiGo board in a non-executive capacity.
“The voting results and the scrutiniser’s report, as required under Regulation 44(3) of SEBI LODR, are enclosed and also hosted on the company’s website,” IndiGo’s Company Secretary Neerja Sharma said in the filing.
The appointment adds significant policy and governance expertise to the board of India’s largest airline at a time when the aviation sector is expanding capacity, adding international routes and navigating regulatory shifts.
