New Delhi: Infosys Ltd on Wednesday said it has received communications from the Joint Commissioner of Central GST for the collection of a penalty amounting to ₹827.5 crore, relating to alleged input tax credit (ITC) issues across multiple financial years.
In a regulatory filing, the IT services major said the demand pertains to alleged disallowance of blocked ITC, excess ITC claims, classification under the wrong tax head and invoices not reflecting in GSTR-2A for the period from FY2018-19 to FY2022-23.

The company said the communication was received on December 16, 2025. Infosys, however, asserted that the matter will not have any material impact on its financial position, operations or other business activities.
While Infosys did not disclose whether it plans to contest the demand, it clarified that the disclosure has been made in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company added that further actions, if any, will be taken as per applicable laws and procedures.
Tax-related disputes are not uncommon in the IT services sector, particularly around the interpretation of GST provisions on input tax credits. Infosys said the details of the communication will also be hosted on its website for investor reference.
