New Delhi: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday said its transportation infrastructure business has won a significant order for the Mumbai Metro railway project, awarded by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The order, Package CA-298, pertains to the electrification of the 24.72-km-long Mumbai Metro Line-4, which runs from Bhakti Park in Wadala to Cadbury Junction and includes 22 elevated stations. The scope of work covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of power supply and traction systems for the entire route.
In addition, L&T will provide the SCADA system for Metro Line-4 and 4A, covering 32 stations, depots and receiving substations. The contract also includes electrical and mechanical works, lifts and escalators for 22 elevated stations and two depots, along with five years of comprehensive maintenance. The entire project will be executed by L&T’s in-house design and execution teams.
This marks the third successive order won by L&T for the Mumbai Metro Line-4 and 4A corridor. Earlier, the company had secured contracts for rolling stock, CBTC signalling, telecommunications, platform screen doors and depot machinery, as well as ballast-less track works across multiple stations on the same corridor.
L&T classified the order as ‘significant’, which typically falls in the ₹1,000–2,500 crore range. The company said the latest win further consolidates its leadership position in urban transportation infrastructure projects in India.
