Mumbai: Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd has joined forces with Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) to introduce Sorakash — a curated colour palette featuring 85 shades inspired by the moods and hues of the sky, the companies said in a joint initiative aimed at blending Indo-Japanese design sensibilities for the Indian decorative paints market.

Named by combining sora (the Japanese word for sky) and akash (its Hindi equivalent), the Sorakash collection spans tones of yellow, orange, blue, grey, white and red, and is pitched at homeowners seeking differentiated, travel-inspired interior aesthetics. The palette reflects shared cultural values such as harmony with nature, craftsmanship and respect for precision, which both partners said underpin the product’s emotional and visual appeal.
Hirokazu Kotera, Executive Director of Kansai Nerolac, said the collaboration goes beyond colours to embody Japanese attention to detail and reverence for nature, reinforcing the company’s Japanese lineage while helping to differentiate its offerings amid rising competition in India’s decorative paints segment.
Shigeru Ishimoto, General Manager of ANA’s Mumbai branch, added that the partnership aligns with ANA’s “Inspiration of JAPAN” philosophy, underlining shared commitments to quality, innovation and customer experience, even across sectors as diverse as aviation and paint manufacturing.
As part of consumer engagement efforts, Kansai Nerolac said customers using its NXTGEN painting services could participate in a campaign to win return flight tickets to Japan, linking the palette’s travel theme with experiential rewards.
Kansai Nerolac, celebrating over a century in business and with a strong manufacturing and distribution footprint across India, sees Sorakash as a way to cater to globally influenced aesthetic preferences while reinforcing brand equity through an international collaboration.
