Synopsis: Upgradation work on the DND Flyway has been delayed due to the imposition of GRAP-IV pollution control measures in the NCR and unfavourable winter temperatures, prompting Noida Toll Bridge Company to extend the project completion timeline to February 2026. The company said the delay is temporary and work will resume once statutory and technical conditions permit.

New Delhi: Upgradation work on the busy Delhi–Noida Direct (DND) Flyway has been hit by pollution-related restrictions and adverse weather conditions, forcing an extension of the project’s completion timeline to February 2026, Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL) said on Friday.

In a media release, NTBCL said the imposition of GRAP-IV measures across the National Capital Region (NCR) due to hazardous air quality levels has disrupted construction schedules, as road improvement activities are classified as polluting work and cannot be undertaken while the strictest curbs are in force. The company noted that statutory restrictions led to a delay of nearly five weeks in the commencement of upgradation activities on the Flyway.

The company had awarded the upgradation work and completed preparatory activities, including material mobilisation, manpower deployment and detailed execution planning, by the third week of October 2025. The project was originally expected to be completed between December 2025 and January 2026.

Apart from pollution curbs, NTBCL said a portion of the upgradation work could not be executed during December due to cold winter temperatures in the NCR, as the process requires specific temperature conditions to ensure quality outcomes. Based on technical recommendations, this phase of work has been deferred to January to avoid sub-par results.

“These two factors have hampered construction progress on the DND Flyway, and the work is presently on hold,” the company said, adding that it is fully compliant with all directions issued by regulatory authorities.

Once GRAP-IV restrictions are lifted and weather conditions become conducive, NTBCL expects the remaining work to be completed in about five weeks, pushing the overall completion timeline into February 2026.

The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining the DND Flyway to world-class infrastructure standards while ensuring commuter safety and smooth traffic movement, and said it will keep stakeholders and commuters informed of any further changes arising from external factors.
