Synopsis: Globus Spirits has commissioned a 100 KLPD grain-based distillation plant at its Uttar Pradesh unit, enabling in-house production of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA). The move is expected to reduce dependence on external ENA purchases for its consumer business in the state and improve cost efficiencies.

In a regulatory filing to stock exchanges, the company said the facility is located at Abbaspur in Aurangabad, Tehsil Matauli, Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. The newly commissioned plant has an installed capacity of 100 kilo litres per day (KLPD) on grain basis or 80 KLPD on molasses basis.

With the commissioning of the facility, Globus Spirits’ UP business will now have internal production of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA), which will substitute the purchase of ENA for its consumer business in the state, the company said.

The distillation unit offers flexibility in raw material usage, allowing production using molasses, broken rice and maize, providing operational resilience amid fluctuating input costs and availability.

The development comes as liquor manufacturers increasingly focus on backward integration to improve margins and ensure supply stability, particularly in large consumption markets such as Uttar Pradesh.
