According to the company’s stock exchange filing, domestic sales climbed 29.1% to 38,844 units, while international business posted an even sharper 42% growth to 2,705 units during the month.

The performance was led by robust demand in the truck segment. Heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) truck sales rose 41.2% to 12,691 units, while intermediate and light-medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) trucks grew 33.5% to 7,071 units. Sales of small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pick-up models increased 29.5% to 14,520 units.

Passenger carriers, however, were largely flat, with volumes at 4,562 units, marginally lower than the year-ago period, the company said.

In the medium and heavy CV (MH&ICV) category, domestic sales rose to 19,676 units in January 2026 from 15,137 units a year earlier, while combined domestic and international MH&ICV volumes increased to 20,792 units from 16,076 units.

The strong January performance underscores improving demand conditions across core freight segments and export markets, even as Tata Motors continues to consolidate its commercial vehicle business following the completion of its corporate restructuring last year.
