New Delhi: Balaji Telefilms on Tuesday announced a content partnership with Netflix to revive its reality show Lock Upp on the streaming platform, marking a fresh push by both companies to tap the growing appetite for high-engagement unscripted formats in India.

Created by Ekta Kapoor, Lock Upp had emerged as a breakout reality property for its confrontational format and survival-style gameplay. The new season, to be launched on Netflix, will be mounted on a larger scale with sharper twists and a reimagined narrative designed for streaming audiences, the company said.
The announcement was made as part of Netflix’s global content slate reveal, where Lock Upp was showcased as one of the key unscripted titles, underscoring the platform’s intent to deepen its Indian entertainment portfolio and invest in formats that travel well across markets.
Ekta Kapoor, joint managing director of Balaji Telefilms, said the partnership with Netflix would help amplify the creative vision of the show and take bold, unapologetic storytelling to a wider audience. Sanjay Dwivedi, group CEO and CFO, said the company remains focused on delivering authentic and impactful content, while Nitin Burman, group chief revenue officer, added that the collaboration would help evolve Indian reality formats into premium, high-value entertainment properties.
Balaji Telefilms said details on the premiere date, host and first-look footage will be announced in the coming weeks as Netflix readies the new season for release.
