New Delhi: TVS Motor Company Limited on Tuesday announced that it has crossed the one million cumulative production milestone at its Indonesia manufacturing facility, reinforcing the country’s strategic importance in its global operations.
The company said that nearly 95% of the one million units produced since 2006 comprise two-wheelers, while the remaining 5% are three-wheelers. The milestone comes after 19 years of continuous manufacturing presence in Indonesia.
Indonesia as Global Hub
TVS Motor has positioned Indonesia as a key manufacturing base catering to both domestic demand and exports. A significant portion of vehicles produced at the Karawang plant has been shipped to markets across ASEAN, South Asia, the Middle East, South America and Africa.
The company operates an integrated production facility at the Surya Cipta Industrial Estate in East Karawang, West Java, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. The plant undertakes end-to-end manufacturing, including engine assembly, spare parts production, painting and product testing.
Senior Vice President – ASEAN Business, James Chan, said Indonesia’s role as a global manufacturing hub is reflected in its ability to meet stringent international quality standards and supply to diverse overseas markets.
Domestic Network Expansion
Beyond manufacturing, TVS has expanded its sales and service footprint across Indonesia. The company currently operates 49 dealerships across key regions including Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.
It also provides after-sales support through its Spare Part TVS Online platform, covering more than 4,800 districts, strengthening customer access and service reliability.
Strategic Significance
The production milestone highlights TVS Motor’s broader globalisation strategy as it deepens presence across emerging markets. Indonesia remains one of the largest two-wheeler markets in Southeast Asia, offering strong growth potential.
The company said it remains focused on expanding its product portfolio and developing low-emission, technology-driven mobility solutions aligned with global sustainability trends.
TVS Motor operates four manufacturing facilities across India and Indonesia and exports to over 90 countries worldwide. The Indonesia unit alone exports to more than 30 countries.
