According to market research cited by industry reports, the sector was valued at around $1.21 billion in 2025 and is projected to expand to about $1.25 billion in 2026, before reaching roughly $1.81 billion by 2036, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of about 3.8% during 2026–2036.

Fire-resistant coatings are a key component of passive fire protection systems, helping delay structural damage during fires by forming insulating layers that reduce heat transfer. These coatings are widely used on steel, wood and concrete surfaces in buildings and industrial facilities to provide additional evacuation time and improve safety compliance.

Demand is expected to remain particularly strong in the building and construction sector, which accounts for the largest share of applications, as governments tighten fire safety standards in commercial buildings, infrastructure projects and industrial plants. Liquid fire-resistant coatings dominate the market, accounting for more than 70% of global demand due to their ease of application and durability.

Asia-Pacific is projected to emerge as the fastest-growing regional market, supported by rapid urbanisation, infrastructure expansion and stricter enforcement of building safety codes across emerging economies.

The market’s growth is likely to remain steady rather than rapid, as demand is largely compliance-driven and linked to construction cycles and safety regulations rather than consumer-led trends.

With rising awareness of fire safety risks and increasing investments in infrastructure, manufacturers are expected to focus on developing advanced formulations with improved thermal resistance and longer protection durations, further strengthening the outlook for fire-resistant coatings globally.
