Section 144 Impose in National Capital ‘Delhi’: What will be Allowed?

Section 144 has been Imposed on Delhi from January 18, 2024, to February 15, 2024. As per the news, section 144 Imposed in Delhi because of some security concerns amid Republic Day. Also, there will be some other big events in the country during the period like Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, Republic Day, and Presentation of Budget 2024 in the parliament. Most probably these are the concerns that are the reason behind this decision. During this impose of section 144 in Delhi, there are several activities prohibited like flying sub-conventional aerial platforms, including paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the national capital because of the Republic Day celebration.

Also, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has restricted the flight movement from 10:20 am and 12:45 pm from between 19 to January 26. Delhi Police also set to do night patrolling during the period amid the risk of anti-social activities or terrorist attacks. Currently, there are more than 8,000 police personnel have been deployed for the Republic Day parade.

However, normal transportation regularly will not be impacted by this. But people need to avoid the activities mentioned above.

“Now, therefore, in pursuance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi’s O.M. No. VI-23014/209/Delhi/2018-VS dated 10.05.2019, I, Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi in the exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 read with Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi’s Notification No. U-11036/3/1978 (i) UTL, dated 01.07.1978, do hereby prohibit the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms,” Delhi Police said.
