New Delhi: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) reported a 9% year-on-year increase in cargo handling at 41.9 million metric tonnes (MMT) in December 2025, supported primarily by a sharp rise in container traffic, the company said in a regulatory filing on Monday.

Container volumes during the month grew 18% compared with the year-ago period, underscoring sustained momentum in trade-linked cargo even as some logistics segments remained under pressure.
For the year-to-date period ended December 2025, APSEZ handled a total cargo volume of 367.3 MMT, marking an 11% increase over the corresponding period last year. Container cargo continued to be the key growth driver, registering a 21% year-on-year rise during the nine-month period.
In the logistics segment, rail volumes in December stood at 59,037 TEUs, remaining flat on a year-on-year basis, while GPWIS (General Purpose Warehousing and Industrial Storage) volumes declined 7% to 1.8 MMT. On a cumulative basis till December, logistics rail volumes increased 11% to 528,872 TEUs, whereas GPWIS volumes were largely unchanged at 16.1 MMT.
APSEZ, India’s largest commercial ports operator, has been focusing on expanding container capacity and strengthening integrated logistics to support long-term cargo growth amid evolving trade patterns.
