Mumbai: Retail broking powerhouse Angel One Limited announced on Monday that Ajit Sinha has joined the company as General Counsel, forming part of its Senior Management Personnel. The appointment, previously tipped in November 2025, became effective today, January 5, 2026.

Sinha succeeds Meenal Maheshwari Shah, the outgoing Group General Counsel who tendered her resignation in late 2025. While Sinha takes the reins today, Shah will continue with the firm until January 31, 2026, to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Sinha brings a formidable track record to Angel One, having spent over two decades navigating the complexities of the Indian financial regulatory landscape. At the National Stock Exchange, he was instrumental in driving legal strategy and governance across both domestic and international entities.
His career highlights include: Leading the legal framework for SGX Connect and the establishment of the International Bullion Exchange at GIFT City; Global Previous leadership stints at global banking giants HSBC and Citicorp Finance; and Deep expertise in securities laws, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and high-stakes dispute resolution.
Sinha’s experience in partnering with boards and CXOs to enable growth through regulatory expertise is expected to be a key asset for the firm’s expansion plans.
The company confirmed in its filing to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE Limited that the appointment is a full-time employment role.
