Following are details about Bangladesh’s current situation as the nation is going to have an interim government.

Bangladesh To Form Interim Government

Bangladesh Will Soon Have An Interim Government

Bangladesh had difficulty sustaining law and order in the country after the authorities scrambled. Thus, there will be an interim government that will manage the situation. The interim government oath-taking will take place at 8:00 p.m., Thursday. Army Chief Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman announced on Wednesday. Yunus will be forming the government. He is currently 84 years old. Along with him, some student leaders including Asif Mahmud and Nahid Islam may also join him in the interim government.

Gen Zaman mentions that the armed forces will be supporting Yunus in the process. However, it is also important to understand the history behind this event. How did this all start? The matter belongs to the year 1971. After the freedom war was fought at that time, the government favoured the families and relatives of the freedom fighters by providing them with 30% reservation in the public sector jobs. However, many Bangladesh students were against this unfair rule. They started protesting against the provision in 2018.

Sheikh Hasina approved the removal of the reservation of 30% for the freedom fighter’s families. Thus, these families file petitions. The high court listened to it and introduced the quota again in June 2024. However, there were now 56% of jobs under the reservation category. The matter moved to the Supreme Court. There was a ruling on 21 July 2024 against the reservation quota. It leads to only 5% reservations for the freedom fighters’ families, 93% on a merit basis and 2% for other category reservations.

Many people lost their lives. Thus, people slowly started hating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They demanded her resignation from her post as PM of the country. The interim government will form soon. There are several questions about the comeback of Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. Her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy mentions that she will come back after the country restores democracy. He also points out at the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agency in the matter.

In the ongoing war, several Bangladeshi Hindus are losing their lives. There was an attack on 10 temples in the country. BJP Vice-President also sent a letter to Conrad K. Sangma for the humanitarian camp to support the refugees if allowed to enter India. Thus, he asked to ensure they move back to Bangladesh after the situation normalizes.Bangladesh To Form Interim Government
