BASF’s Coatings Division has recently announced its plans to implement global units for its Automotive OEM Coatings Solutions and Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions businesses. This strategic move is aimed at better serving their global customers who are increasingly seeking comprehensive support and services on a global scale.

BASF Coatings Appoints Global Business Unit Leader

Effective from August 1, 2023, the following executives will assume key leadership positions for the newly established global units. Patrick Zheng Yu Zhao will take charge of the Global Automotive OEM Coatings Solutions business unit, which will be headquartered in Hong Kong. Prior to this role, Zhao held the position of Senior Vice President at Coatings Solutions Asia Pacific. With an extensive career at BASF since 1999, starting in the Polyurethane business, Zhao brings valuable experience from various positions across different divisions.

Chris Titmarsh will assume the responsibility of leading the Global Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions business unit, based in Münster, Germany. Titmarsh’s most recent role was Senior Vice President Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions EMEA, where he was based in Germany.

Frank Naber, based in Frankfurt, Germany, will assume the leadership position for the Global Surface Treatment business unit, which operates under the Chemetall brand. Naber will succeed Christophe Cazabeau, who will be transitioning to a new assignment.

By establishing these global units, BASF aims to streamline its operations and enhance its ability to provide seamless support to its customers worldwide. The new organizational setup will facilitate improved coordination and collaboration across different regions, enabling BASF to meet the evolving needs of the automotive industry.
