Grasim Industries Ltd. has marked another success in its journey of success. The company that introduced Birla Opus this year is now the brand’s second-largest paint maker by capacity. The company is part of Aditya Birla Group. Birla Opus’s paint manufacturing integrated its fourth plant in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka. Now, it has become the second largest in the decorative paint manufacturer category in India in terms of capacity.
Birla Opus Paints is consistently getting good attention from the market and as a result company is making it better with time. There are over 129 products and 900 SKUs across various categories which shows the hard work of the company. Currently, Birla Opus is serving 4300 towns in India and right now the company is looking forward to hitting a revenue of ₹10,000 within the first 3 years.
Currently, this new plant in Chamarajanagar adds 230 MLPA ((Million Litres Per Annum) capacity. Along with it, with the addition of this new plant company’s total capacity for paint manufacturing is now 866 MLPA. The facility will produce water-based paints, enamel paints, and wood finish paints, featuring zero liquid discharge and fourth-generation manufacturing technology.
According to the details, the company has invested ₹8470 crore of its planned ₹10,000 crore in this paint business. Also, the company is working on two additional plants to add more capacity in the future. These two plants are in Pune in trial production and in Kolkata with the names Mahad Plant and Kharagpur Plant.
