The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, signals a formal shift in Cabinet proceedings to the new premises.

For decades, the Prime Minister’s Office functioned out of South Block. The government has described the new location as a break from the past and a marker of what it calls a more service-oriented administrative culture.

In the resolution adopted at the meeting, the Cabinet said decisions taken at Seva Teerth would be guided by constitutional principles and aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

The language of the statement stresses accountability and citizen-focused governance, themes that have been central to the government’s messaging over the past several years.

The site itself carries symbolic weight. According to officials, the complex has been built at the location of temporary barracks dating back to the colonial period. The government has framed this transition as reflective of institutional change in independent India.

The resolution also refers to major welfare and reform measures undertaken in the last decade. Among those cited are Ayushman Bharat, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, rural housing expansion and the Jal Jeevan Mission. Structural reforms such as GST, Direct Benefit Transfer and the push for digital governance were also mentioned as milestones in administrative restructuring.

The Cabinet reiterated its commitment to the goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, the government’s stated plan to position India as a developed nation by the centenary year of Independence. It also repeated the ambition of placing India among the world’s top three economies.

While the resolution does not announce new policy measures, the shift to Seva Teerth carries political and administrative symbolism. The government has projected the new complex as a space meant to streamline decision-making and reinforce what it describes as a culture of service in governance.
