Section 144 imposed in Delhi amid Farmer protest 2024 ‘Chalo Delhi”. The ongoing protest by Indian farmers is gaining attention around the country. Farmers are planning mega protests in Delhi but the Delhi police have banned large gatherings for a month ahead of this mega protest by the farmers. Farmer Protest 2024

Delhi Police restricted the large gathering and imposed section 144 starting from February 13, 2024, amid Farmer Protest 2024. As per the details, over 200 farmers are planning mega protests in the national capital. This current order issued by the Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora restricts the entry of tractors into Delhi. Also, it will prohibit the carrying of guns, flammable substances, and bricks and stones like makeshift weapons. The official order is available below which you can read.

This time Farmers are protesting for the guarantee of a minimum support price which is also known as MSP. This is one of the conditions, farmers demanded in the protest of 2021 after the Farm Laws announcement by the central government.

Along with this, farmers are demanding the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission which includes the pension for farmers and farm laborers, farm debt waiver, withdrawal of police cases, and “justice” for victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Farmers are ready for the Delhi Chalo protest in March but Haryana and Delhi blocked their borders with neighboring states by putting up concrete blocks, spike barriers, and barbed wires. Currently, both states Haryana and Delhi are under section 144 restrictions and five or more people gather. The Haryana government has suspended mobile internet services and bulk SMS in seven districts Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa.
