As part of the collaboration, HCLTech will undergo deep technical onboarding with Microsoft’s Discovery team to align platform architecture and partnership models, and explore joint go-to-market opportunities. The company will subsequently participate in projects spanning chemistry and materials science, drug discovery and semiconductor design, leveraging its domain expertise across industries.

Microsoft Discovery is designed to enable large-scale data processing and simulation, workflow automation and faster experimentation for research teams. HCLTech said its participation would help extend these capabilities to enterprise-scale use cases through collaborative proofs of concept, co-innovation labs and industry-specific implementations.

“This selective collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing AI technologies in partnership with leading innovators,” said Hari Sadarahalli, corporate vice-president, engineering R&D services at HCLTech. Microsoft said HCLTech would play a key role in expanding the platform and developing sustainable, innovative solutions.

The partnership comes as global IT services firms increasingly position AI-led R&D, engineering and scientific computing as new growth engines beyond traditional digital transformation, amid rising enterprise demand for faster innovation cycles.
