India has made another history by testing India’s first long-range Hypersonic missile. On 16th November 2024, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) notified through its official handle about the successful flight trial of India’s first long-range hypersonic missile with 5 Mach capability. This going to be a game-changing moment in India’s defense system and now India is among the countries like Russia, the United States, and China that have this level of capability in the missile system.
On the same day, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) shared that the missile is designed to carry various payloads for ranges greater than 1,500 kms for the Armed Forces. Along with it, the press release covered that this missile has impacted a high degree of accuracy with successful terminal maneuvers.
The missile was developed by the Laboratories of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad along with other DRDO laboratories and industry partners. This flight trial was conducted in the presence of DRDO’s senior scientists and officers of the Indian Armed Forces.

Not only this, but DRDO conducted one more test on 12th November 2024 named with ‘Maidan Flight’ of a long-range land attack cruise missile (LRLACM) from a mobile articulated launcher.
