Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal has concluded a high-impact visit to Israel aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in agriculture, technology, innovation and trade. Through a series of extensive engagements with Israeli leaders, industry experts and innovation hubs, the visit marked a crucial step forward in strengthening the India–Israel strategic partnership.
On 21 November 2025, Shri Goyal held detailed discussions with Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Avi Dichter. The meeting focused on expanding agricultural collaboration, with the Israeli side presenting its comprehensive 25-year food-security roadmap, advanced seed-improvement technologies and globally renowned water-reuse systems. The dialogue reinforced shared priorities in sustainable agriculture and productivity enhancement.
During the visit, Shri Goyal toured the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, where he witnessed Israel’s pioneering achievements in sectors ranging from drip irrigation and medical stents to the Iron Dome system. He also experienced demonstrations of emerging technologies and next-generation virtual-reality applications. Describing the Center as an inspiring institution, the Minister praised Israel’s innovation ecosystem and its contributions to global technological progress.
Shri Goyal also reviewed Israel’s advancements in mobility by experiencing an autonomous-drive demonstration by Mobileye, highlighting precision engineering in next-generation transport systems. At Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, he examined sustainable agricultural practices, community-driven innovation, and cooperative living models that have shaped Israel’s rural development success.
A day earlier, on 20 November 2025, Shri Goyal met Israel’s Minister of Economy, Mr. Nir Barkat, to evaluate the current trajectory of bilateral trade and identify new growth opportunities. The discussions were followed by the India–Israel Business Forum, which brought together leading industry representatives from both countries. The Forum featured technical sessions and B2B meetings focused on fintech, agritech, AI, quantum computing, pharmaceuticals, space and advanced manufacturing.
Shri Goyal later held a bilateral meeting with Israel’s Minister of Finance, Mr. Bezalel Smotrich. The talks explored cooperation on financial technologies, regulatory alignment and expanding investment channels between the two nations.
As part of industry interactions, the Minister engaged with the leadership of major Israeli companies including Check Point (cybersecurity), IDE Technologies (water management), NTA (urban mobility) and Netafim (precision agriculture). Conversations centred on cybersecurity, water and sewage solutions, metro infrastructure and advanced irrigation technologies—areas that complement India’s development priorities.
One of the most significant outcomes of the visit was the signing of the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the India–Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering bilateral trade, boosting investments and enhancing technology partnerships. The ToR lays the groundwork for constructive and accelerated FTA negotiations in the coming months.
During his interactions with Israeli media and the diamond trade community, Shri Goyal highlighted the growing strength of the India–Israel economic relationship. At the India–Israel CEOs Forum with Minister Barkat, he underscored the resilience, depth and potential of the bilateral partnership.
Shri Piyush Goyal’s engagements reaffirmed India and Israel’s shared vision for a stronger, innovation-driven and future-ready economic partnership, with expanded collaboration across strategic sectors that are vital to both nations.
