In today’s era of AI and Technology, India is going to announce three startups. It’s aim is to make India a Global AI Powerhouse. India is a growing country moving towards advancements and adapting new technologies, methods & measures to be a successfully developed economy.

In a significant push towards technological sovereignty, three more Indian startups have stepped up to develop Indigenous Foundational AI Models.

This move is the dream of the Indian Government, a goal that they are trying to achieve using national strategies like India AI & aspire to achieve Economic Growth, GDP & Digital Leadership.

Foundational AI models are also known as Large Language Model (LLM’s). They are the backbone of Generative AI tools that can perform complex tasks such as Language Translations, Content Creation, Code Generation & Reasoning.

A statement from the IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw reveals that the significant progress has been made on India AI mission, and it focuses on democratization of technology.

In a vision to make India a powerful global AI powerhouse, three teams are selected for building indigenous artificial intelligence foundational models.

-Soket AI, Gan AI, and Gnan AI.

Vaishnaw said- “ Like Srvan, these three teams also a very big target ahead of them. Whichever sector they focus on, they must be among the top five in the world.”

These models are trained on massive datasets and require substantial computing resource and technical expertise. AI is a tool that can be only seen expanding its roots in the future. So far, most of the Foundational Models have been developed in west by the companies like, OpenAI, Google and Meta AI.

Now, India is looking forward to startup its own courses by nurturing homegrown players to build models suited to Indian Languages, Indian Cultures and Knowledge and Socio-economic needs.

The startup of the homegrown Foundational Model is not only heading towards growth but it is also a matter of National Importance. And the second reason is, the in-built model can help additional in the sectors like education, healthcare, governance and agriculture.

Moreover, these startups will benefit from government’s commitment to provide compute infrastructure, AI datasets, testing frameworks and open-source tools under the India AI mission.

With the eco-system evolving rapidly, the rise of more foundational models are expected to come up in future.

With the ecosystem evolving rapidly, the rise of more foundational models are expected to come up in future. Soket AI- It is an Indian AI research firm focused on ethicial Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Its ambition is to built a 120 Billion- parameter Indic LLM trained on 2 trillion tokens.

Gnani AI- It is a conversational AI company specializing in voice-first AI platforms for business.

Its focus is on voice intelligence- phonetics, translations, & speech generation- specialized for regional languages.

Gan AI- It is a type of artificial intelligence model that generates realistic data, images, texts, audios and other learning patterns. Its scope is to build small to mid-sized LLM’s optimized for Indic texts and resources efficiently.
