Amazon has admitted that it is eliminating employment in the cloud computing sector. In its Amazon Web Services (AWS) specifically. In July of 2025, a spokesman announced that they had made “The difficult business decision to eliminate some roles across particular teams in AWS.” However, the corporation did not provide precise figures.

As per the sources, it has been declared by Amazon officially that it is cutting jobs in cloud computing in AWS. The job cuts are estimated at hundreds of roles across various AWS teams. Moreover, including the specialists’ organizations, frontline support, training and certification, marketing, analytics, and others.

According to Amazon, this is a component of their larger study to maximize resources and streamline processes. Amazon keeps making investments and hiring in key fields.

Although CEO Andy Jassy had previously stated that AI efficiencies might eventually decrease some corporate functions. But a spokesperson emphasized that AI was not the main factor.

However, it is supporting the affected employees by paying at least 60 days of pay & benefits. Also providing severance eligibility, and assistance finding internal roles. 

Notably, Despite the layoffs, AWS is still financially healthy, with Q1 sales up 17% to $29.3B and operating income up 23% to $11.5B.
