New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Thursday reported total auto sales of 86,090 vehicles in December 2025, marking a 25% increase over the year-ago period, including exports. The growth was led by the utility vehicle (SUV) segment, where domestic sales rose 23% year-on-year to 50,946 units, underlining sustained consumer demand for the company’s core portfolio.

Commercial vehicle sales also remained buoyant. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles stood at 24,786 units in December, registering a sharp 34% growth over last year, aided by strong traction in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment below 3.5 tonnes. LCV sales in the 2–3.5 tonne category rose 37% year-on-year during the month, reflecting improving last-mile and intra-city freight demand.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, said the company ended calendar year 2025 on a positive note, achieving its highest-ever volumes in SUVs and LCVs (<3.5T). He added that December performance reinforced Mahindra’s strong positioning across high-growth segments of the domestic auto market.

The company’s farm equipment business delivered an equally strong performance. Mahindra sold 30,210 tractors in the domestic market during December 2025, a growth of 37% over the same month last year. Total tractor sales, including exports, stood at 31,859 units, up 39% year-on-year, while exports alone jumped 78% to 1,649 units. Improved rural cash flows, healthy crop yields and favourable reservoir levels supporting Rabi sowing were cited as key demand drivers.

Mahindra’s trucks and buses business (CV >3.5T) also reported a strong showing, with sales rising 43% year-on-year to 2,260 vehicles in December. Growth was seen across both cargo and passenger segments, supported by favourable policy changes and improving industry sentiment. The company said early signs of an upcycle are visible, with expectations of further acceleration in the fourth quarter.

With broad-based growth across SUVs, commercial vehicles, tractors and heavy CVs, Mahindra enters 2026 with strong operating momentum, even as it keeps a close watch on macroeconomic conditions and demand sustainability in the coming months.
