The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is set to introduce a doorstep delivery service for 23 different services, including obtaining birth and death certificates, renewing factory licenses, and more. This initiative is modeled after the approach taken by the Delhi government. The range of services also encompasses tasks like modifying birth certificates, applying for health trade licenses, renewing health trade licenses, applying for factory licenses, and filing property tax returns.

Delhi Civic Body To Roll Out Doorstep Delivery Of 23 Services Soon

Mayor Shelly Oberoi explained that this move aims to assist elderly citizens and those who are not comfortable with technology. The doorstep delivery service is scheduled to begin in October in the national capital. Citizens can avail these services by calling the toll-free number 155305 to request assistance or lodge complaints.

Once the request is made, a mobile ‘sahayak’ will be assigned to visit the citizen’s home between 8 am to 10 pm. Equipped with a laptop, tablet, and internet connectivity, the ‘sahayak’ will offer information and resolutions. The goal is to provide the services within two working days from the request, as per reports from PTI.

Mayor Oberoi highlighted that this doorstep delivery system will be implemented throughout Delhi’s civic body. She further noted that from the complaints received via the MCD 311 app, they were able to successfully resolve 80% of them within the last 17 days.

The ‘MCD 311’ app serves as a user-friendly platform for citizens to register their grievances, such as issues like improper waste disposal, road potholes, malfunctioning streetlights, and the presence of stray animals. This digital channel aims to simplify the process of reporting problems to the authorities, promoting transparency and efficient resolution. Oversight of these complaints will be managed by a consortium of agencies.
