Paintvision Global business summit 2025, entered its third session with an engaging panel discussion on New Developments in the Paint Industry. Innovations are rapidly transforming the core of this sector. We’ve come a long way. From eco-friendly formulations and smart coatings to the integration of AI in color matching and predictive maintenance. Today, the paint industry is no longer defined by aesthetics alone; it is increasingly driven by functionality, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology. To gain deeper insights into these advancements, let us now move forward with this valuable and forward-looking session.

Mr. Manish Malhotra starts the panel discussion with the point that among many, they were chosen for this particular panel discussion. He believes that with great experiences comes great knowledge. People like them, who have lots of experience, would be more reliable to speak on this important topic. He invited Mr Ranjit Singh for the discussion with the panel before proceeding.

Mr. Manish Malhotra posed the first question to Mr. Anil, inquiring about the current developments in the industry. He responded that, as a member of the industrial sector, his primary focus is on developing cost-effective and eco-friendly coatings. He emphasized that the rapidly changing government norms, particularly the stringent ESG regulations that require reporting, drive the industry’s development. He highlighted that Hot Dip Galvanizing is a common practice in India, for which his company utilizes eco-friendly and pollution-free Zinc Flake Coating. Notably, his company was the first to introduce this technology from Germany to India. He stressed that MSMEs should invest in research and development (R&D) to ensure future growth and success.

Mr. VN Dubey was then invited to continue the discussion and share his insights. Expressing gratitude for the invitation, VN Dubey Sir shares his pride in seeing Anil Sir’s growth, having worked with him as a colleague. He attributes his company’s success to targeting niche markets, which helps them stand out from the competition. According to him, producing the same products and varieties as others makes it impossible to compete. VN Dubey Sir reveals that his company has avoided crises by focusing on selective growth through niche market products. They achieve this by continuously introducing new products and revenue streams in each segment.

Next question was posed to Nitin Sir, asking where the market should lead in terms of development and what innovative approaches had contributed to his business’s growth and success. Nitin Sir responded by highlighting the similarities in thought among the panel members, particularly agreeing with VN Sir’s views. He emphasized that business owners should shift their focus from solely pursuing profits to identifying market gaps and understanding customer needs. Instead of prioritizing profits, businesses should strive to provide solutions that improve people’s lives. Nitin Sir’s company focuses not only on the Indian market but also on the global market, anticipating future needs. He noted that water-based paints are the future and his company has launched nearly zero-VOC, chemical-free products, which big companies appreciate. Recognizing the growing health awareness among the new generation, Nitin Sir suggested launching green paints that are safe for their health. He also proposed that the Paint Association establish a common lab, potentially funded, to drive industry development. Mrs. Pooja interjected, pointing out that when MSMEs approach big companies, they’re often asked about their volume, and she lamented the lack of support for development from larger entities.

Mr. Manish asked Mr. Ranjit about his business. Ranjit Sir shares that his company is a fourth-generation family business and advises keeping family and business separate, always telling his children that the business is doing great, regardless of its actual performance. This approach, he believes, inspires his children to join the business. Ranjit Sir highlights a new initiative his company undertook – recycling solvents – which they started in 2000 with a production capacity of 600 barrels per day. Despite facing significant losses, the company persevered and continues to operate in this segment.

The session was concluded by asking Mrs. Pooja about the future developments in spray paints. Mrs. Pooja responds that the spray paint market is strong and consistent, with a growing demand for customized and specialized products. She highlights emerging trends, including 2K aerosol cans, water-based aerosol cans, low-VOC aerosol cans, and air-powered aerosol cans. Her company has already developed 2K and water-based aerosol can technologies. Looking ahead, the company plans to focus on air-powered aerosol cans, which use zero LPG, making them a safer and more environmentally friendly option for the future.

Mr. Manish then ended the insightful and wonderful session with the note saying that ” Listening the ideal people who have taken their company from scratch to here is very inspiring and we get to know and learn many new things from their experiences.”
