Accordingly, the following Order further amends certain Quality Control Orders on specific chemicals made in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). The 2019 Methanol (Quality Control) Order was published by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. This request will come into force on the third of August 2023.

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, published the Sodium Tripolyphosphate (Quality Control) Order, 2020. On September 13, 2023, this order will take effect.

To identify products for which quality control orders (QCOs) could be issued, the Central Government collaborated with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the relevant stakeholders. The BIS quality certification mark must be visible on a product that receives a QCO.
