International: Land Rover’s Range Rover brand has taken bespoke personalisation a step further with the introduction of a “mirror-like” paint finish available on all bespoke gloss paint commissions for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. The new process, aimed at affluent and discerning customers, promises unprecedented depth of gloss and polish for exterior surfaces.

Developed as part of an internal research initiative to enhance surface clarity and refinement, the mirror finish delivers a 25% increase in smoothness over previous gloss paint techniques, producing a glass-like lustre reminiscent of high-end materials such as patent leather or polished stone. The result elevates the visual impact of bespoke commissions and underscores Range Rover’s design and craftsmanship credentials.
The bespoke paint process is artisanal and time-intensive, with each vehicle undergoing three days of hand spraying, sanding and polishing by in-house specialists. Technicians use advanced tools such as wave scan readers to identify surface irregularities and achieve the desired depth of shine, removing around 15 microns of lacquer by hand in the final polishing stages.
To support delivery of the mirror finish, Range Rover has expanded its bespoke facilities with dedicated paint booths, enabling greater control and consistency in execution. The enhanced capability also opens the door for a wider range of complex colours in future bespoke commissions.
The launch follows Range Rover’s busiest year yet for bespoke commissions, including recent limited-edition models such as the Fifty-Five and Asilomar editions, which showcased the brand’s growing appetite for personalised luxury. The mirror finish is expected to appeal to clients seeking rare and expressive design touches on their bespoke luxury SUVs.
Range Rover said the new finish reflects its commitment to craftsmanship and individual expression, enabling clients to tailor their vehicles with exceptional visual impact.
