Reliance has launched the much-awaited Reliance JioBook laptop in India, an updated version of last year’s model. The new JioBook is designed for the masses, boasting a sleeker design and running on the JioOS operating system. Notably, it comes with 4G LTE support, ensuring internet connectivity on the go.
Priced at Rs 16,499, the JioBook is one of the most affordable laptops in the market, even cheaper than entry-level Chromebooks by other brands. The sale will commence on August 5 through Amazon and Reliance Digital stores.
Despite having “Jio” in its name, Reliance clarified that the JioBook is a retail product, not available on the Jio store online.
The laptop features a lightweight and compact design, weighing just 990 grams and equipped with an 11.6-inch anti-glare HD display. It supports 4G connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi, along with standard trackpad gestures and over 75 keyboard gestures.
The JioBook has an “infinity” keyboard design, maximizing key size without sacrificing space. It runs on an octa-core processor and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, capable of handling daily tasks efficiently.
With 64GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB with an SD card, the JioBook offers ample space for user data. As a Jio product, it comes pre-loaded with proprietary apps like Jio TV and JioCloud games. Users can also learn coding languages using JioBIAN, a Linux-based coding software supporting Java, Python, and Pearl.
The laptop comes with USB-A, HDMI, and audio jack ports, and Reliance provides free cloud storage of up to 100GB with Digiboxx. However, the availability of Microsoft apps like Office and PowerPoint on the JioBook remains uncertain.
