New Delhi: In a bold step toward self-reliant automotive technology, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) have joined forces to develop indigenous solutions for India’s next-generation vehicles. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Traffic InfraTech Expo – 2025, aims to reduce reliance on foreign technologies and power the country’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Under the partnership, C-DAC will lead R&D and technology innovation, while ICAT will provide testing, validation, and certification, along with industry linkages to ensure practical deployment. Together, the two organizations will work on cybersecurity solutions, advanced testing standards, and emerging automotive technologies, paving the way for safer, smarter, and cleaner mobility.
Officials highlighted that this collaboration will fuel Swadeshi innovation, enabling India to design, test, and deploy home-grown automotive technologies across electric, connected, and future-ready vehicles. Experts say the move could significantly reduce dependence on imported automotive solutions while boosting India’s global competitiveness in the sector.
The partnership marks a key milestone in the country’s journey toward self-reliant, future-ready mobility, aligning with Make in India and the national goal of transforming India into a global leader in automotive innovation.
