New Delhi: In a major step towards strengthening India’s artificial intelligence infrastructure, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and US-based semiconductor major AMD have expanded their strategic collaboration to bring the state-of-the-art ‘Helios’ rack-scale AI architecture to India.
The partnership will see TCS, through its subsidiary HyperVault AI Data Center Ltd, co-develop a rack-scale AI infrastructure design based on AMD’s ‘Helios’ platform to support India’s national AI initiatives.
Rack-Scale AI for Sovereign Compute
The ‘Helios’ platform will be powered by AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs, next-generation EPYC “Venice” CPUs, Pensando “Vulcano” NICs and the open ROCm software ecosystem, forming a rack-scale AI platform designed to support sovereign AI factories.
As part of the collaboration, the two companies will offer an AI-ready data centre blueprint supporting up to 200 MW of capacity and will work with hyperscalers and AI firms to accelerate data centre build-outs in India.
Industry executives said the move comes amid a global shift from AI pilots to full-scale enterprise deployments, requiring large, efficient compute clusters and purpose-built infrastructure.
Enterprise to Hyperscale Push
Dr. Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, said AI adoption is rapidly scaling and requires a new compute blueprint. “With ‘Helios,’ we are delivering an open, rack-scale AI platform designed for performance, efficiency and long-term flexibility,” she said.

He said the collaboration combines strengths in AI, connectivity, sustainable power and advanced data centre engineering to deliver infrastructure solutions for AI firms and global enterprises.
HyperVault’s Role
TCS established HyperVault in 2025 with the vision of delivering gigawatt-scale, secure AI-ready infrastructure for hyperscalers and enterprises.
The latest announcement builds on the companies’ earlier strategic collaboration aimed at scaling enterprise AI adoption and modernising hybrid environments.
Strategic Significance
The partnership signals India’s growing ambition to build sovereign AI capabilities and reduce reliance on offshore compute infrastructure. As AI workloads become increasingly data-intensive, rack-scale architectures such as ‘Helios’ are emerging as a preferred model for high-density, energy-efficient deployment.
With TCS generating over $30 billion in consolidated revenues in FY25 and AMD deepening its AI hardware footprint globally, the collaboration could position India as a critical node in next-generation AI infrastructure build-outs.
The move also aligns with the broader push to create domestic AI factories capable of supporting generative AI, enterprise automation and large-scale model training within Indian jurisdictional boundaries.
As India accelerates its AI roadmap, partnerships between global chipmakers and domestic IT majors may define the next phase of the country’s digital infrastructure expansion.
