New Delhi: United Spirits Limited (USL) on Thursday announced the appointment of Ms. Archana Sasan as interim General Counsel for a period of up to six months, effective February 23, 2026, to ensure continuity in legal leadership.

The move follows the temporary unavailability of Ms. Shobhana Nikam, the company’s current General Counsel and Senior Management Personnel (SMP), who is indisposed due to personal exigencies, according to a regulatory filing with stock exchanges.
The Board of Directors, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, approved the engagement of Sasan in a consulting capacity. The appointment has been made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Sasan brings over two decades of experience across private practice and in-house legal leadership roles. She has previously held senior legal positions at Dell International Services India, Bharti Airtel, GE Money Financial Services, and Kochhar & Co. Advocates & Legal Consultants.
Her expertise spans complex legal and regulatory issues, compliance frameworks, and strategic advisory to corporate leadership, with a focus on navigating evolving regulatory landscapes and integrating technology into legal processes.
Industry observers note that leadership continuity in the legal function assumes heightened significance for listed companies amid increasing regulatory scrutiny and governance expectations.
Shares of United Spirits (BSE: 532432; NSE: UNITDSPR) may remain in focus as investors track management and governance developments at the Diageo-controlled liquor major.
