Synopsis: India’s largest spirits maker United Spirits Limited (USL), the Indian arm of Diageo, has appointed HR veteran Chinmay Sharma as Chief HR Officer. He will assume office on March 5, 2026, replacing Shilpa Vaid, who will move to another role within the Diageo group from April 1. The company said the move aims to strengthen its people agenda as it sharpens execution across a complex, nationwide footprint.

New Delhi: United Spirits on Thursday informed exchanges that its board has approved the appointment of Chinmay Sharma as Chief HR Officer and Senior Management Personnel, effective March 5, 2026. Sharma brings over two decades of global HR leadership across India, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Switzerland, and has held senior roles at GlaxoSmithKline, Philip Morris International and Procter & Gamble. His remit has spanned end-to-end people functions, including stints as CHRO and EVP–HR, and leading people and culture programmes in large, unionised and geographically diverse organisations, the company said.

At USL, Sharma is expected to focus on organisation-wide transformation, capability building and culture change—priorities that have gained prominence as the company streamlines operations and sharpens portfolio execution in a competitive spirits market. He holds an MBA from SCMHRD and has completed a human resource development programme from Cornell University.

The appointment was cleared by the board on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and will be a full-time role, the filing added.
