Abhishek Ganguly – the Managing Director of Puma India and Southeast Asia has announced his resignation from the company to pursue his venture. Ganguly had been associated with the sportswear brand for over a decade and had played a pivotal role in establishing Puma’s presence in the Indian and Southeast Asian markets.
Under Ganguly’s leadership, Puma made significant strides in the Indian market becoming the third-largest sportswear brand in the country. He had also overseen the brand’s expansion into Southeast Asia including the opening of Puma’s flagship stores in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Ganguly’s departure from Puma comes as a surprise to many in the industry given his successful track record with the brand. However, Ganguly has expressed his excitement about his new venture and his eagerness to take on new challenges.
In a statement, Ganguly said “After an incredible journey with Puma, it’s time for me to embark on a new chapter. I’m excited about the opportunity to build something new and to make a meaningful impact in the industry.”
Ganguly’s departure will undoubtedly leave a void at Puma India and Southeast Asia..but the brand has expressed confidence in its ability to continue its growth trajectory in the region. In a statement, Bjorn Gulden, CEO of Puma SE said “Abhishek has been a valued member of the Puma family for many years, and we wish him the very best in his new venture. We are confident in the strength of our team in India and Southeast Asia and remain committed to our growth plans in the region.”
