“He was in charge of the business for about five decades; carried on with an existence of magnificence and serenity, and he was at the core of the Mahindra’s development. He was able to get through a lot of difficult situations thanks to his charming personality. My sincere condolences go out to Mahindra Group’s employees, family, and friends. On Twitter, Singhania wrote, “RIP Keshub Mahindra.”
Keshub Mahindra ventured into his father’s business in the year 1947, where he initially manufactured and sold utility vehicles. From 1963 to 2012, he served as the conglomerate’s chairman. After that, he appointed Anand Mahindra, his nephew, as his successor.
He was crucial to the Mahindra Group’s diversification from its primary focus on the assembly of Willys Jeeps. However, in addition to operating businesses in software services, hospitality, and real estate, the $19 billion conglomerate is now well-known for its tractors and sport utility vehicles.
Days after reappearing on the Forbes list of India’s Richest Billionaires for 2023, Mahindra passed away. Mahindra served on various government committees. From 2004 to 2010, he served on the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade and Industry.
In 1987, the French government presented Mahindra with the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Legion d’honneur. He was an individual from Assocham’s Pinnacle Warning Chamber and the President Emeritus of the Businesses’ League of India. Tata Steel, Tata Chemicals, ICICI, IFC, Steel Authority of India Limited, and Indian Hotels all had Mahindra on their boards and councils.
