The Consumer Ministry of India announced the plan to set up the world’s largest grain storage in India. This going to be a great thing related to the food industry. If India succeeds in setting up this largest grain storage, this will also help us to increase the export of grain and smooth the supply nationwide as well. It will also help to solve the shortage of food grain in the country. Let’s discuss all the major key things that can be directly impacted by this initiative.
Currently, India has grain storage with a capacity of 145 million tonnes. This existing food grain storage has an annual food grain output of over 300 million tonnes. As we all know, we lost over tonnes of food grain just because of a lack of inadequate storage capacity. But now India is planning to expand its storage capacity to 215 million which will be enough to store huge amounts of food grain. It will manage the supply of food grain in the country as well as for export as well.
The consumer ministry may sign agreements with the DoCA, Nabard, NCDC, and NCCF, a senior official told Mint. The setup of this storage will proceed with the collaboration with DoCA, NCDC, NAFED, and NCCF. The storage capacity will be one of the main things about this project. But as per the official statement to Mint, the world’s largest grain storage capacity is still unclear and will be confirmed soon or later.
This project will benefit the agricultural industry with decentralized godowns, custom hiring centres, and processing units, and much more. Farmers will be able to save their food grain from inadequate loss of food grain due to weather-related problems and other things. There are many more updates to come related to this project, stay tuned and read more latest business news on our website.
