In a filing to stock exchanges, the Hyderabad-based defence simulation firm said the latest grant takes its Indian patent count to 57, while its global patent portfolio now stands at 85, with the mortar simulator becoming the eighth patent awarded to the company in 2025.

The patented system provides an end-to-end training solution for high-angled firing weapons, including mortar systems, combining realistic weapon architecture with advanced sensors, recoil simulation, azimuth and elevation controls, and computer-generated battlefield scenarios. The simulator enables safe, indoor and all-weather training without the need for live ammunition or field firing ranges.

Zen Technologies said the patent significantly enhances its competitiveness in international defence markets, where armed forces are increasingly shifting towards simulation-based training to improve readiness while reducing operational risk and costs. Strong IP protection is expected to support the company’s participation in global defence tenders, collaborations and offset programmes.

The company added that the development underscores its continued focus on in-house R&D and innovation, reinforcing its positioning as a research-driven defence technology player catering to both domestic and overseas armed forces.
