Reason Behind Massive Fire at Chemical & Paint Factory in Bengaluru
A Fire Services official stated that the godown was about 1,000 square feet in size and added, “Fortunately, four personnel who were at the godown fled out to safety before the fire devoured the entire premises. Ahmed, a local who was among the first to arrive at the scene when he discovered the fire, informed the control room and assisted the workers in escaping. Six people, including three fire officers, were hurt putting out the fire and are currently being treated in hospitals.
Police were called in to help evacuate the neighbourhood’s occupants because the godown is close to a busy residential area.
“Barrels began exploding,” – A preliminary examination found that one of the barrels containing the chemical collapsed and caught fire, even if the exact reason of the event is yet unknown. According to fire officials, it moved to other barrels, which started to explode.
They acknowledged that if a few cylinders had not been removed before the fire spread, the outcome might have been substantially worse.
Residents of nearby buildings who were evacuated by the police were overcome with panic. To stop further damage, LPG cylinders were also taken from their homes, and the power supply was turned off.
“Protecting nearby buildings was the firefighting team’s biggest challenge. One structure had cracks owing to the heat, and many overhead tanks melted, according to a senior official. The furniture on the terraces of two houses next to the factory caught fire and was destroyed.
