During the 12th City Gas Distribution on March 4, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that the measures the government of India is taking will triple the consumption of natural gas by the end of 2030.

Mr Puri also talked about how the government is determined to make natural gas available across India and is pushing companies to use natural gas as fuel and energy. Mr Puri also explained how the government is going to invest more than 67 billion USD in the next six years.

In the 12th City Gas Distribution bidding round, the total investment CGD collected is around 41,000 crore INR, and according to Mr Puri, this will help generate employment in the northeastern states and union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

A total of 8 states and union territories will be covered in the 12th City Gas Distribution. The states and union territories are as follows: Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.

In 8 states and union territories, a total of 103 districts will be covered. Minister Puri also said that a total of 33,753 km of natural gas trunk pipelines have been laid down already, and from them, 24,623 km of pipelines are currently functional all over India.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board is playing a huge role in helping the government by ensuring safety and providing safe and clean gas to Indian households, Mr Puri added in his speech.
