Under the agreement, Shemaroo will license the satellite and digital rights of 18 films from PNC’s catalogue. While financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, the company said the partnership is aimed at expanding the reach of its content and maximising revenue streams through multiple electronic platforms.

PNC, known for films such as Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Chameli and Jhankaar Beats, has been increasingly focusing on monetisation of its intellectual property amid growing demand for curated content from broadcasters and OTT platforms. The deal with Shemaroo, which has a strong presence across satellite TV and digital distribution, is expected to help the company better leverage its library without incremental production risk.

In a regulatory filing, PNC said the licensing arrangement reflects its broader strategy to optimise returns from its content portfolio and diversify revenues beyond new film production. For Shemaroo, the agreement adds premium, niche titles to its existing catalogue, strengthening its offering across television and digital platforms.

The transaction comes at a time when content owners are increasingly monetising legacy libraries through structured licensing deals, as competition among broadcasters and streaming platforms intensifies and acquisition of ready-to-air content ga ins pace.
