The Uttar Pradesh government will now invest Rs. 75,000 Crores to meet the energy needs of the state. 2024 leads to an increase in the power demand by 30,000 megawatts. Apart from that, the industries, main cities, malls, and the e-vehicle charging mechanism are the main causes of power consumption.
The Uttar Pradesh government will spend 75,000 crores in different places. Rs. 43,000 crores for ramping the energy feeders and installing smart meters in the state. While the government will work on two thermal projects with the rest of Rs. 32,000 Crores. The Ghatampur plant in Kanpur with 1,980 MW power will get half investment. While the other half will be for the Obra C Plant in Sonbhadra with 1,320 MW power. There will be some other projects as well under CM Yogi Adityanath. Uttar Pradesh is developing under CM Yogi Adityanath’s rule. The state has the leading e-vehicles market. Apart from that, the state is among the initial states to recognise the need for increasing power demand.
Apart from that, the states also use power banking. It is a bilateral arrangement between two states. The current states under power banking are MP, Rajasthan, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Punjab, J&K, and Himachal Pradesh. These states tie up and help each other meet their power needs in times of emergency. The states in need get cheaper energy from the states that have in excess. UP is taking the step for the entire state as their power demand exceeded by 30,000 MW.
