New Delhi: HT Media Ltd on Tuesday said it has kept on hold the closure of operations of its Chennai-based FM radio station ‘Fever’, offering a reprieve after the company had earlier announced plans to shut the unit.

In a regulatory filing, HT Media said its wholly owned subsidiary, HT Music and Entertainment Company Ltd (HTME), has paused its decision to surrender the licence granted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) for operating the FM station in Chennai.
The company had, in a disclosure dated November 25, informed stock exchanges that HTME had surrendered the licence for the Chennai station and that operations would be closed with effect from December 24, 2025. However, the latest update said the decision to close operations has now been kept on hold.
The filing was made under Regulation 30 of the Sebi (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. HT Media did not disclose the reasons behind the change in decision or indicate whether operations will continue on a long-term basis.
The development comes at a time when traditional radio broadcasters are reassessing regional operations amid advertising volatility and rising operating costs, while also navigating competition from digital audio platforms.
HT Media operates radio, print and digital media assets, and the ‘Fever’ FM brand has a presence across multiple Indian cities. Any final decision on the Chennai station is expected to be communicated to exchanges in due course.
