Mumbai’s Dharavi residential area caught fire that spread in a three-story building and another four-story structure at Ashok Mill. The fire started in a textile unit. Dharavi is India’s largest slum area. It is also the third largest in the world. Around 6 people were injured in the fire and the fire department reached the spot immediately to get control over the situation. The investigation team is finding the reason behind the fire. However, the actual reason is not known yet. The incident was life-threatening.

Mumbai's Dharavi Area Catches Fire On Tuesday

Mumbai’s Dharavi area which is a slum area catches fire. The incident took place on Tuesday, 28 May 2024. The reporters mention that the fire spread high starting from a textile unit in an Industrial compound. A three-floor structure and a four-floor structure were under the fire. Both the structures had their ground floor half covered in fire. While the floors above were completely on fire. The people reported the incident immediately.

As the information reached, the city police, staff of the civic ward, and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport reached there with an ambulance for the medical facility. As per the police officers and the fire department, wooden substances present there were the main reason behind the fire. The fire department took control of the fire within some time. The incident led to 6 people injured. The good news is that no one died in the incident. The injured were taken to the Sion Hospital.

The reports mention that the injured people are in stable condition now. The fire flames rose high at 3:45 am. A team of 5 engineers and 5 fire vehicles together took control of the fire. Water tankers poured water over the fire. The six injured people have burns on their bodies after the incident.

Such incidents can be life-threatening. The fire incidents are increasing in these times. The main reason behind the fire incidents is the rising temperatures. With the increase in the temperature, flammable things like paints or industries manufacturing such things, wooden infrastructure, etc easily catch fire.

Thus, it is of utmost importance to take care of such incidents and call the fire department immediately. Some other fire incidents are the Mumbai chemical industry blast and Harayana’s Ambala house catching fire. Dharavi area is a slum area. It has a lot of people living together.
